Privacy Policy
Unboring helps you rewrite drafts on X (Twitter) using an AI provider you configure. We do not operate a backend for this extension, and we do not collect analytics.
Data we store on your device
The extension stores the following in chrome.storage.local:
- Your chosen AI provider, model name, and default rewrite style
- API keys you enter (per provider)
- Optional custom API base URL
- One-click rewrite preferences
This data stays on your device unless you clear extension storage or uninstall the extension.
Data sent when you rewrite
When you use the rewrite feature, the extension sends your draft text and style instructions from the extension service worker to the AI API endpoint you selected (for example OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepSeek, Moonshot / Kimi, or a custom OpenAI-compatible URL).
- Your API key is sent only as an authorization header to that provider.
- Draft content is not uploaded to Unboring servers — there are none.
- How each provider processes and retains API traffic is governed by that provider’s privacy policy and terms.
Website access
On x.com / twitter.com, the extension injects
UI next to the compose box, reads the text you typed in the draft field,
and can write a rewritten version back into that field. It does not
scrape your timeline or private DMs for unrelated purposes.
Permissions
- storage — save settings and API keys locally
- Host access to X — inject the rewrite control on compose pages
- Host access to AI APIs — call the provider you chose
- Optional host access — only if you configure a custom API base URL (requested at save time)
What we do not do
- No Unboring account or login
- No ads, trackers, or third-party analytics SDKs
- No sale of user data
- No remote code execution from Unboring-controlled hosts
Children
The extension is not directed at children under 13. Do not use it if you are not allowed to use the AI providers you connect.
Changes
We may update this policy when the extension’s behavior changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change accordingly.
